How to Make Your Own NFTs?

Are you thrilled by the concept of NFTs? Imagine artists selling their own artwork and being able to determine their own royalties. No intermediaries are involved. That’s what non-fungible tokens give you.

In this post, we share a gradual process on how to make your own NFT on Opensea. Opensea is currently one of the most popular NFT marketplaces for minting and selling digital collectibles like art.

But first, let’s define what NFTs entail.

What are NFTs?

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are a trending type of digital asset secured by cryptography. NFTs can represent anything – from commodities like gold and silver to digital items like music, art, photos, and even tweets. There are also NFTs that come in the form of digital assets like virtual land, in-game items, and more.

NFTs are created using a particular type of cryptography known as ERC721. This is a custom Ethereum protocol that allows for the creation of unique tokens. Each NFT is encoded on the blockchain with a particular identifier that is never duplicated.

When you create an NFT, you are minting a new token with its unique value. You can use it to represent anything you want. NFTs can also contain smart contracts that may give you a cut of future sales, making them very useful for artists, musicians, and others who want to create limited edition digital collectibles.

What you’ll need to make NFT art:

  • A wallet that supports  your choice of the blockchain (e.g., Metamask for Ethereum)
  • You need to fund your wallet. If you choose Metamask, make sure you have it funded with ETH
  • Create a free account on an NFT marketplace like Opensea

How to Make Your Own NFT?

Follow these simple steps to make your NFT:

1. Register for a free account on the NFT minting website

As previously mentioned, OpenSea is a beginner-friendly platform for first-time creators to mint their NFTs. In fact, OpenSea has a lazy mint option which allows artists to mint their NFT artwork and list it for sale without paying any gas fee. When the collector buys it, they will pay the gas fee you were supposed to pay.

Go to Opensea and create an account. Once you have registered and created a free account on the marketplace (e.g, OpenSea), you will access the minting page. On the minting page, you will need to enter the following information:

  • The name of your NFT token
  • The symbol of your NFT token
  • The aimed number of tokens you want to mint
  • The description of your NFT token

Click on the mint button, and your NFTs will be created!

2. Deposit some Ether into your account

To get started with NFTs, you will need to deposit Ether (ETH) into your account. Ether is the main currency used on the Ethereum blockchain to mint NFT tokens.

Once you have deposited Ether into your account, you can mint your NFT art.

3. Select the “Create New NFT” tab on the NFT minting website

Click on the “Create New Token” button. Enter the following information:

  • Name of your NFTs: This can be anything you want, but it is recommended that you use something that will quickly remind you about the token.
  • Description: A brief description of your new token. This could be anything from what it represents to why you created it.
  • Symbol: This is what your token will be called and can be any letters or numbers
  • Amount: This is the number of tokens you want to create
  • Decimal Places: This is how many decimals places your token will have. The default is eight, but you can choose any number you want.
  • Address: Upload the address of the Ethereum wallet you want to use to create your new token.

Once you have clicked on the “Create New NFT” button, your new NFT token will be created and added to the NFT Exchange website. You can now send and trade your NFTs with other people who also have them! You will be able to view information about your new token by clicking on the “View” tab.

4. Enter the details of your new NFT Token

Suppose you are minting new NFT tokens. Let’s call the collection “Wildebeests.” There are only 100 of them, worth 0.02ETH each.

Click “Create.”

Once you have clicked the “Create New NFT” button, you will be taken to a new page where you will be permitted to create your very own NFT token.

Next, you will need to select the symbol for your NFT. This can be any character you want, but it must be between 3 and 8 characters long.

Then, you will need to choose the number of NFTs you want to create. You can create anywhere from 1 to 10,000,000 NFT.

The final step is to set the expiration date for your NFT. You can choose to have them expire immediately, in 1 day, in 7 days, in 1 month, or one year.

Once you have finished filling out all of the information, click the “Create NFT” button, and your NFTs will be created.  You will see the NFTs listed in the “Token” tab. You can also view information about it, such as the total number of NFTs that has been minted, the date and time it was created, and more.

5. Selling your NFT

After minting, it’s time to list your NFT for sale. Set your NFT in USD, ETH, or any other cryptocurrency listed on OpenSea. Once the funds are deposited into your OpenSea account, you can then withdraw the funds to your wallet or purchase other NFTs on the platform.
