Select merchant partners will roll out exclusive products for non-fungible token holders.
Tokengate in its BETA Mode, Allowing Vendors to Create Shop on Shopify
As part of its latest series of connect-to-clients initiatives for 2022, Shopify is planning to allow merchants to link with fans and grow sales via specific merchandise for token holders. This initiative is going by the name “tokengate,” and is in its BETA mode.
To get started, vendors need to create their tokengate shops on the Shopify application and or simply add the feature via in-store. Then, buyers have to link with their wallets to prove they are owners of the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and be able to shop gated merchandise or access particular events. The features are the main gateway between consumer brands and NFT communities on the platform.
Furthermore, vendors are allowed to partner with brands for new NFT drops and link with Shopify trading partners to create premium products. Vendors are also able to mint NFTs on other blockchains, such as Ethereum (ETH) and Polygon (MATIC). Then, they can list the NFTs and sell directly from their stores.
The BETA version is only available by invitation to selected merchants who have collections of NFTs. Neither the buyer nor the seller is required to pay with digital assets for NFTs. Payment gateways will allow people to also use debit cards and credit cards. Also, buyers will be able to make their claims via emails and add them directly to their wallets.
Already, Evan Keast, the Doodles co-founder, has joined the project. “As an ambitious community-driven project, we’ve placed a strong emphasis on setting the standard for unique NFT collector experiences. By partnering with Shopify on tokengated merch, we surprised our holders and gave the ownership of a Doodle a whole new meaning,” said Keast.
